The decision to invest in the latest technology and machinery has meant that we now have a fully computerized shop floor. This cutting edge technology leads to greater accuracy and precision in our manufactured products, and a faster turn-around of work. The subsequent investment in high end software as demonstrated on the technology page, has tied all of the machinery together and resulted in a streamline operation. As a company we continue to look at possible investments into new machinery or technology that will improve our product and service.

Beamsaw Selco EB70 Beamsaw

Computerized cutting machine, capable of cutting multiple sheets of material at the same time. The software on the machine has a built in optimizer to reduce the amount of waste and increase speed. The machine is equipped with an on-board label printer, all panels coming off of the saw have a label applied to them with a barcode on enabling us to identify the panel at any stage and bring up and related CNC programs associated with it.  

EdgebanderBrandt KDF-660 Edgebander

The edge banding machine applies a PVC or wooden edge to a panel, the thickness of material applied ranges from 0.5mm to 12mm.  The machine also puts a small radius on the top, bottom and corner edges of the applied edging, so that the panel is smooth to touch.  To ensure the edge is applied to the highest of standards the edgebander is equipped with pre-millers which plane the edge of the board before the edging is applied giving a perfect finish, additionally buffers and cleaning solution at the end of the machine polish the panel to a superior finish.  

CNC Biesse Rover 20 CNC

Computerized drilling and routing machine, this machine is generally the final piece of equipment that the panels pass through before assembly.  The label which was applied to the panel on the Beamsaw is scanned by the on-board barcode reader, and the CNC drills out the panel as per the program generated by the design software.  This means that whatever you see in the design software, is exactly what will be produced at the end of the manufacturing process.  

The Environment

To reduce our impact on the environment we only use materials which are FSC sourced, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) work towards protecting the planets forests and improving the lives of those who live and work in them.  Additionally to reduce the amount of waste which we put into landfill we have invested in a Talbott T300 Biomass Furnace, this not only helps by reducing the amount of waste we dispose of, but also heats our factory meaning that we have no requirement for any other form of heating.  We also supply excess waste wood products to a local company which they also burn to heat their factory.
